This page takes a while to load, but has some good representational pictures of the garden.

You can see the wood railroad tie that was the original border of this bed.  There were buttercups growing in this area.  They were trying to take over the entire yard.  So I dug them up.  I was left with a great deal of nice rich dirt.  So I built this wall to contain it and added more dirt and compost.  Then I moved the three lilac bushes and a butterfly bush into the new extended bed.  There is lobleia around the edge and some other miscellaneous stuff.

This is the northern half of the east rockery in late May.  The tall white flowers will be there for about two more weeks and then they'll be ugly and I'll pull them out.  Behind the white flowers are 3 grape vines and a Hardy Kiwi.  The bunch of greenery in the center of the picture are sunflowers.  Sowed there by the generosity of the birds and squirrels.  The white flowers on the right are Snow-in-Summer.

A good shot of the sunflowers showing how they were growing back to back.
